SMP’s Review of Kuya J

As a local foodie who loves exploring flavors, my visit to Kuya J was a delightful experience filled with familiar tastes and new discoveries.

The Crispy Pata Family was a standout, with its perfectly crispy exterior and tender meat inside, making it a must-try for anyone craving authentic Filipino comfort food.

Another favorite was the Kare Kare, rich and creamy, with tender oxtail and a peanut sauce that was just right—comfort in every bite.

Grilled Scallops offered a taste of the sea, beautifully grilled and served with garlic butter that enhanced their natural sweetness.

The Ube Halo-Halo Espesyal was a sweet finale, combining ube ice cream, leche flan, and sweet beans in layers of refreshing shaved ice—a perfect way to end the meal.

However the Chorizo Dinamitas, while flavorful, felt a bit heavy on the oil, which distracted from its otherwise enjoyable taste. This minor flaw aside, the overall dining experience at Kuya J was excellent.

For those looking to explore Filipino cuisine beyond the usual fare, Kuya J offers a well-rounded menu with dishes that showcase both traditional flavors and creative twists.
